Hey Billy.

Another SXSW related post-post but this pertains to the presentation I gave this year, Design is in the Details. A huge thanks again to all that attended and were curious enough to see what I had to say. It was very nice to see the large crowd that came and I hope it was somewhat useful. But more to the point, I have slides.
I was hoping that audio would be available by now but Hugh has told me that most panels and presentations will be uploaded by date in the following weeks. I’m not surprised of course, since I can only imagine how long it will take to render all the audio. I’ll amend this post with the audio once it’s up.
Again, thanks for attending. It was a definite highlight.
Awesome man—can’t wait for the audio. Do you see yourself presenting again in the future?

One more quick side question that I’ve always wanted to ask. Do you sketch out your ideas and begin each new project with a decent visual idea of the direction you want to head, or is it something that just evolves organically?

Naz, After downloading the slides I noticed you did this in HD. However I seem to recall your presentation being on a standard projector at a normal 4:3 resolution.
How did you handle this? Did you have 2 versions, 1 for presenting and the other for download? Or was your presented one just smashed to fit the right ratio?

Alex – I do believe so. I’ve presented in the past, at smaller, more intimate events and am slated to present for the local chapter of the AIGA.
As for your second question, my presentation actually answered that, funnily enough. It’s a combination of both. If you’d like to read about my process, read the article that the presentation is based on at A List Apart.
Josh – Indeed, I did this at the wider aspect that Keynote allows for. The Macbook has that resolution as well so that worked out nicely. You might have noticed that there were black bars like widescreen, at top and bottom to compensate for it. The MacBook I had on stage ended up squeezing it’s aspect to fit the display on stage.

Is the audio still in preparation? Sorry, just wanted to make sure you don’t forget about it… I’m pretty eager to hear it, really.
